「The Birth of Esperanza: Bringing the Argentine Dream to Japan」

A single glass of wine can change a life. The story of our boutique wine company in Kobe began not with a business plan, but with a deep bond of friendship and a shared passion born in faraway Argentina.
Why "Esperanza"? Esperanza. In Spanish, this word means Hope. We infused the entirety of our company's mission into this single name.
Wine is more than just a beverage. In the moment you tilt your glass, you are liberated from the everyday; you begin to envision the landscapes of a distant land and savor the depth of time spent with loved ones. We founded this company because we wanted to deliver that sense of hope and brightness to everyone through our selections.
Discovering the Spirit of Argentina Argentina—a land of passion and viticulture located at the southern tip of the South American continent. To the west rise the highest peaks of the Andes; to the east stretch the infinite plains of the Pampa. I became captivated by this nation, world-renowned for tango, football, and some of the most extraordinary wine regions on Earth.
While studying at an Argentine university, I shared a dream with local friends: "One day, I want to share the brilliance of this country with Japan." Today, that dream has taken shape.
The Hidden Potential of Argentine Wine in Japan "Argentine wine? I’ve heard of it, but..." This remains the reality for many in Japan. In truth, Argentina is the world’s fifth-largest wine producer. Specifically, with the Malbec grape, Argentina boasts the #1 production volume and quality globally.
However, in the Japanese market, supply remains limited—particularly for high-end, premium labels which were almost non-existent. We saw this as our mission: to provide the opportunity for people in Japan to experience authentic, world-class Argentine wine.
Connecting Japan and the World through Trade The founding motivation of Esperanza Co., Ltd. is to serve as a bridge connecting Japan with the global stage through international trade.
By importing high-quality products that were previously only available locally, we allow Japanese consumers to experience authentic foreign cultures firsthand. We want these experiences to inspire dreams—asking, "What is Argentina really like?" and sparking the desire to visit one day.
We have established direct trade routes with world-renowned Argentine wineries. By utilizing our proficiency in Japanese, English, and Spanish, we bypass middlemen to deliver the winemaker’s original vision directly to Japan.
Why Wine? Out of all the products in the world, why did we choose wine? Because wine is culture itself.
Within a bottle lives the climate, the soil, the history, and the raw passion of the maker. A single sip brings the landscape of a distant country to life before your eyes. This is not just a commercial transaction; it is the business of delivering dreams and experiences.
April 2024: A Challenge Begins in Kobe "Familia Furlan wines will undoubtedly be loved in Japan." When we first shared these wines with Japanese residents and restaurants in Argentina, the reputation spread instantly. I felt instinctively that the quality of these wines would resonate perfectly with the sophisticated Japanese palate.
The Future We Envision Our goal is to become the most beloved Argentine wine importer in Japan and across Asia. In five or ten years, we want Esperanza wines to be a staple in luxury restaurants and hotels—the name wine lovers think of first when they think of Argentina.
Above all, our greatest joy is when our wine inspires someone to dream of traveling to Argentina. The story of Esperanza Co., Ltd. has only just begun. We believe this small step will grow into a grand bridge connecting Japan and Argentina.
